Travel in Kakheti, region of wine making, centuries old elaborate feasting traditions and local Kakhetian hospitality.  Visit the local wineries which keep the ancient traditions of wine producing. Day 1: Depart for Tbilisi

Fly to Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi

Arrival in Tbilisi, meet in the airport and transfer to a hotel for rest.

Tbilisi – the capital of Georgia is an elegant mixture of eastern and western cultures. Venture out in the old winding streets to explore this exotic city and later indulge yourself to sit in the small cozy café and enjoy the picturesque views over the old town. The tour will take you from the century old churches to the amazing panoramic views and famous bath district which attracted lots of people during the centuries. Visit the brandy factory.

Day 3: Tbilisi/Sighnaghi/Kvareli

Today we  travel to Kakheti – the land where wine has started.

First we visit Sighnaghi, city of romance and love, visit the local winery and enjoy the superb scenery with a glass of wine. Later on, head to Kvareli region. Enjoy a traditional lunch with fine examples of the country’s rich culinary and winemaking legacy. At lunch you will experience the unique tradition of having “Tamada” (toast master) who will lead the east and cheer up the guests.

Afterwards visit local family to see the centuries old wine-cellar, the host is more than happy to explain all the details of wine making in a traditional way to the guests, as well as offer them home-made wines.

Day 4: Kvareli/Tbilisi

Today we compare home made wine with bottled wines. Visit a bigger winery, go through the tunnels and enjoy award winning wines, as well as breathtaking views. Afterwards we head to visit Gremi complex (16th c) and later on, filled with unforgettable impressions drive back to Tbilisi for an overnight.

Day 5: Tbilisi/Mtskheta/Gori/Kutaisi

Start the tour from driving to the ancient capital of Georgia- Mtskheta and visit  two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th c) and Jvari monastery, located on a hilltop (6th-7th cc).

Afterwards continue to a winery inside the palace and taste wine.

Later we visit Gori and its surroundings to try different kind of Kartli province wines. Here we visit the local family and experience traditional bread baking process in “Tone”. Then drive to Kutaisi, in west Georgia for an overnight.

Day 6: Kutaisi

In the morning we drive to visit splendid Gelati academy and monastery (12th c) and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex is outstanding indeed and captures the attention of the visitors from the very first sight. Afterwards we enjoy some free time in the food market of Kutaisi. Only a few markets are surviving until today and we recommend taking a chance to see Georgian spices, fruit, vegetables and sweets. It’s time to enjoy lunch with Imeretian hospitality and local wine.

In the afternoon visit Prometheus grotto in Tskaltubo. Prometheus Cave is one of Georgia’s natural wonders and one of the largest in the world with numerous stalactites and stalagmites and many underground rivers.  Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 7: Kutaisi/Ambrolauri

Drive to Racha region and enjoy the spectaular views all along the way. Stop at Shaori Lake to stretch your legs and take a short break just to sit back and absorb the indescribable beauty of nature. Visit Nikortsminda cathedral (11th c). The Cathedral is on the Tentative List for status as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Racha is blessed with some of the most diverse and beautiful wine-growing landscapes in the country. Located in the northern part of Georgia, on the slopes of the picturesque Caucasus Mountains, the region is known for exquisite grapes and incredible wines.  Taste local wines in Racha and stay for 1 night here.

Day 8: Ambrolauri/Tbilisi

Today drive back to Tbilisi and free time to enjoy yourselves in the vibrant capital of Georgia.

Day 9: Departure home

Transfer to the airport and depart.
