Tbilisi on a subway

Duration 3 hours, Mostly walking tour

The subway in Tbilisi is called Metro. Opened in 1966, it was the fourth Metro system in the former Soviet Union. Like most ex-Soviet Metros, most of the stations are very deep and vividly decorated. The Tbilisi Metro comprises two lines, 27.1 k in total length.

We travel from Liberty Square Station to Station Square (3 stops) and find ourselves on the main railway station of the city where we can visit gold and agricultural markets. Walking along the busy streets we reach Aghmashenebeli Avenue. We reach Marjanishvili station and travel to Rustaveli Station from where we take a walk along Rustaveli Avenue to have a look at 19th century Opera and Ballet Theatre, Rustaveli Theatre, Old Parliament building and the Viceroy Palace now.
