Georgia combines beautiful mountains and valleys, Black Sea and semi-dessert. You can travel from the mysterious mountain provinces to the land of wine and poetry.

 

Georgia’s terrain is of great variety and to explore it on a 4WD tour is a real pleasure as you reach the areas not accessible by standard vehicles.

 

Travel around Georgia and get its best with mountains, rivers, wild flowers, hospitable people, fresh and delicious dishes and wine.

Day 1: Arrive in Tbilisi

Arrive in Tbilisi and transfer to a hotel.

Day 2: Tbilisi/Mtskheta/Tbilisi

We have walking tour of Tbilisi visiting the highlights of the Old Town with beautiful Orthodox Christian Churches, Mosque, Synagogue, famous and refreshing Sulphur Baths, narrow cobbled streets with hanging wooden carved multi-colored balconies and the 19th century houses following the architectural styles of the 19th century Europe, Narikala Fortress, the glass Bridge of Peace. Continue to take a short tour to Mtskheta with Svetitskhoveli Cathedral and Jvari Monastery – UNESCO World Heritage Sites. Return to Tbilisi.

Day 3: Tbilisi/David Gareja/Velistsikhe/Telavi

Meet our 4WD vehicles today and drive to Kakheti province – the wine cradle of Georgia.

Kakheti with its fertile soil is the perfect place to grow vines and make wine.

We drive through semi-desert area of David Gareja and then visit a farmer’s winery to get acquainted with traditional way of wine-making, see “Qvevri” buried under the ground and taste home-made Georgian red and white wines as well as Georgian fire-water (vodka) “Chacha”. Have fun and take part in Georgian traditional crescent moon shaped bread Shoti baking.

Day 4: Telavi/Shenako/Diklo/Omalo

This morning we travel to Tusheti province over Abano Pass. This road is among the 10 most dangeous roads of the world so collect all your energy and explore this breathtaking route.

We visit Shenako and Diklo villages and drive to Omalo for an overnight.

Day 5: Omalo/Verkhovani/Dartlo/Parsma/Omalo

Explore Gometsari romantic Gorge and Pirikita Gorge of Tusheti. Today you’ll see the most beautiful villages of Tusheti among them are Verkhovani, Beghela, steep Dochu, Dartlo and Parsma. Return to Omalo.

Overnight in Omalo.

Day 6: Omalo/Sighnaghi

Travel to a tiny town of Sighnaghi surrounded by a wall. The town is very romantic and is called – the town of love. From Sighnaghi you can enjoy the great view over the Alazani River Valley topped by the Great Caucasus Mountains that you’ve just come back from. Taste wine at a local winery and enjoy free evening.

Day 7: Sighnaghi/Ananuri/Kazbegi

Drive through Tbilisi to Kazbegi. Avoid driving in the busy streets of Tbilisi and take a detour from Tbilisi Sea – artificial lake. Visit Ananuri and over the Cross Pass arrive in Kazbegi.

Overnight in Kazbegi.

Day 8: Kazbegi/Sno Valley/Juta/Truso Valley/Kazbegi

Drive to Gergeti Church in Kazbegi, Sno and Truso Valleys. Today’s highlight is Juta – the village that is isolated for 6 months because of high snow. Visit a local family and taste mountain honey and Georgian sour yogurt – Matsoni. Return to Kazbegi.

Day 9: Kazbegi/Uplistsikhe/Gori/Kutaisi

Visit Uplistsikhe Cave Town and enjoy a cave walk. The town is dug in the sun-stone plateau and is of beautiful golden color. Initially there had been more than 500 caves, but during the existence of 3000 years it has lost much of it. Have a quick stop at the museum of J. Stalin in Gori. Transfer to Kutaisi – the legendary town of the Kingdom of Cholcis.

Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 10: Kutaisi/Gelati/Martvili/Kutaisi

Visit Samegrelo and Imereti provinces. We travel to the village Gachedili for the canyons that were called after local royal family Dadiani and take a boat trip. Continue to the canyons in Gordi village. Transfer to Tskaltubo and visit Prometheus caves. Travel to Gelati Cathedral – UNESCO World Heritage Site. Return to Kutaisi.

Overnight in Kutaisi.

Day 11: Kutaisi/Mestia

Travel to the UNESCO World Heritage Site – Svaneti province the real highlight of the tour. This is a breathtaking drive and real adrenalin for those who are fond of wild adventures.

Overnight in Mestia.

Day 12: Mestia/Ushguli

Travel to the highest permanently inhabited village of Europe – Ushguli (2200m) and enjoy the views of Georgia’s highest peak – Mt. Shkhara (5068m). Visit Lamaria Church with spectacular murals of the 12th century.

Overnight in Ushguli.

Day 13: Ushguli/Zagaro Pass/Lentekhi

Take a 6hour drive over Zagaro Pass to Lentekhi. It seems you’re driving in the middle of nowhere as there’s no road and there’re no signs. Enjoy the views and arrive in Lentekhi.

Overnight in Lentekhi.

Day 14: Lentekhi/Sairme

Drive to Sairme spa town. Arrive and relax at this town surrounded by colorful forest.

Overnight in Sairme.

Day 15: Sairme/Zekari Pass/Akhaltsikhe

Travel over the picturesque Zekari Pass. Arrive in Akhaltsikhe and visit Rabath Castle.

Overnight in Akhaltsikhe.

Day 16: Akhaltsikhe/Vardzia/Paravani Lake/Tbilisi

Visit the magnificent cave town of Vardzia. This is the biggest existing cave town of Georgia and is related to Georgia’s most beloved queen of the 12th century – Tamar.

Travel to Tbilisi along the largest lake of Georgia – Paravani.

Overnight in Tbilisi.

Day 17: Departure

Transfer to the airport and departure.
