The land of poetry - Tusheti - Georgia Tourism and Attractions

With the pristine grasslands, towers with pyramid-shaped roofs, villages emerged on top of the mountains, stone built houses, sheep flock outspread on the hills, Tushetian songs on harmonic at evening bonfires, moon gazing down to misty mountains – Tusheti is so poetic that it’s often referred as the land of poetry.

The car path to Tusheti is open only from late spring to early autumn and is listed as one of the 10 most dangerous roads in the world. The highest point of the road is Abano Pass 2900m.

Tusheti is full of people – local and visitors in summer but in winter there’re only several families. Most of the locals have homes in Akhmeta area and that’s where they spend their winters but reconnect with their roots in summer.
