Day 1: Departure for Tbilisi

Fly to Tbilisi.

Day 2: Tbilisi

Arrive in Tbilisi, meet in the airport and transfer to a hotel for rest.

Today you have Tbilisi tour on your own, walking tour which lasts around 3-4 hrs.

Tbilisi – the capital of Georgia is an elegant mixture of eastern and western cultures. Venture out in the old winding streets to explore this exotic city and later indulge yourself to sit in the small cozy café and enjoy the picturesque views over the old town. The tour will take you from the century old churches to the amazing panoramic views and famous bath district which attracted lots of people during the centuries.

Day 3: Tbilisi/David Gareji/ Sighnaghi

Get the car and drive to David Gareji cave monastery (6th c). On arrival you will be amazed by the picturesque landscapes and monastery itself. Centuries ago the monks carved out the caves that still surprise their visitors. Visit Lavra monastery and afterwards start walking up to Udabno monastery to enjoy wonderful frescoes and views overlooking Azerbaijan valley.

Afterwards we drive to the romantic city of Sighnaghi.

Day 4: Sighnaghi/Mtskheta/Kutaisi

After breakfast we depart for Mtskheta to visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th c) and Jvari monastery on top of a hill (6th-7th cc). Later on continue our way to west Georgia, Land of the Golden Fleece and visit the city of Kutaisi whose antiquity is more than 3000 years.

Day 5: Kutaisi/Borjomi/Akhaltsikhe

In the morning we drive to visit splendid Gelati academy and monastery (12th c) and UNESCO World Heritage Site. The complex is outstanding indeed and captures the attention of its visitors from the very first sight. Afterwards we enjoy some free time in the food market of Kutaisi. Only a few markets are surviving until today and we recommend taking a chance to see Georgian spices, fruit, vegetables and sweets. Later on we continue our way to Borjomi spa town and taste the famous mineral water `Borjomi`. Chance to take a cable car overlooking the beautiful gorge. In the late afternoon drive to Akhaltsikhe.

Day 6: Akhaltsikhe/Vardzia/Akhaltsikhe

Today visit one of the highlights of Georgia — Vardzia cave town (12th c). On the way to Vardzia we have a photo stop at Khertvisi fortress. The town that still amazes its visitors with its grandeur, beauty and mystical atmosphere. Wondering in this cave town will truly take you back to the 12th c when Georgia was flourishing. Here you will see church beautiful for its frescoes, dwelling quarters, wine cellars and granaries, pharmacy and even the library. Return to Akhaltsikhe and visit Rabat hilltop castle.

Day 7: Akhaltsikhe/Gori/Kazbegi

Another beautiful and picturesque day awaits us today. Start driving to Gori, better known as Stalin’s birth place and continue to the ancient cave town of Uplistsikhe. That’s a place where the Great Silk Road used to pass. Afterwards we continue driving up to Georgian Military Highway and en route enjoy the fascinating views. On the way to Gudauri we stop at Ananuri architectural complex overlooking Jinvali reservoir. Arrive in Kazbegi.

Day 8: Kazbegi/Tbilisi

Start walking up to Gergeti Trinity church (14th c). Hiking up to the mountain is of moderate difficulty but it is all worthwhile. The beauty all along the way and up to the church will make you forget about tiredness. If the weather permits, you may even see one of the highest peaks in the Caucasus –Mt. Kazbegi (5047 m).

In the afternoon drive back to Tbilisi and drop off the car.

Day 9: Departure

Transfer to the airport and departure.
