short breaks six - Georgia Tourism and Attractions

In a small country like Georgia you can find all sorts of landscapes and a lot of diversity. From the dry continental climate you can travel to subtropical climate in a day and enjoy the different vegetation.

 

Take this tour through the ancient capital and legendary town of the Golden Fleece – Aia and finally find yourself in a seaside town of Batumi with so much to tell you.

Day 1: Tbilisi/Mtskheta/Kutaisi

After breakfast we depart for Mtskheta to visit two UNESCO World Heritage Sites: Svetitskhoveli cathedral (11th c) and Jvari monastery on top of a hill (6th-7th cc). Later on continue our way to west Georgia, Land of Golden Fleece and visit the city of Kutaisi whose antiquity is more than 3000 years.  We’ll take a tour to a grotto with stalactites and stalagmites and later to beautifully painted monastery of Gelati – another UNESCO Site and the only surviving church that has magnificent mosaic in the altar.

Day 2: Kutaisi/Batumi

In the morning we depart for Batumi – the pearl of the Black Sea to which so many songs have been dedicated. We take a walking city tour in this vivid town with ornamented Piazza Square, Era Square topped by the statue of Princess Medea with the Golden Fleece in her hands and the boulevard. In the afternoon we enjoy the dolphin show and “wow” on what those sweet creatures can do. Late afternoon free to wonder around.

Day 3: Batumi/Train to Tbilisi

We have a leisure morning to take a swim in the Black Sea of Batumi. Later we take a walking tour in Batumi Botanical Gardens – the most beautiful of the Black Sea coast and in the late afternoon we catch our train to Tbilisi.
